2. Why I process personal data

I process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Managing my guestbook.
  • Sending my newsletter, provided you have given explicit permission for this in advance via the subscribe button on the website.

3. What data I process

I process:

  • your first and last name
  • your email address
  • your IP address

I do not collect any special and/or sensitive personal data.

4. Cookies

Guestbook

When you leave a comment in the guestbook you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. The WordPress comment form does this for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Newsletter

Laposta.nl, the newsletter program with which I create and send my newsletters, uses functional and analytical cookies for its website, but no tracking cookies.

Because I do not use tracking cookies, and because I do not collect personal information with Laposta’s analytical cookies, asking for permission is not mandatory. It is mandatory to inform the visitor about the use of cookies, which I hereby do.

5. Who I share your data with

I will not share or sell your personal information to third parties without your knowledge, unless I am legally obliged to do so, for example on the basis of a legitimate request from competent authorities.

Guestbook

When you leave a comment in the guestbook, I collect the data shown in the comment form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent string to help detect spam. Visitor comments are checked through the automated spam detection service Akismet.

Akismet:

We collect information about visitors who comment on sites that use our Akismet Anti-spam service. The information we collect depends on how the user sets up Akismet for the site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

Gravatar

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Newsletter

You can sign up for the newsletter. The personal data you enter (your first and last name and email address) will only be used by me to send you the newsletters.

Laposta

This data is shared with Laposta.nl, the newsletter program with which I create and send my newsletters. I have concluded a Processor Agreement with Laposta for this purpose. If you receive a newsletter, Laposta may record when it is opened and which links are clicked.

Furthermore your data will never be provided to third parties.

6. How long I store your data

I store your personal data for the statutory retention periods, and no longer than necessary for the intended purposes.

Guestbook

When you leave a comment in the guestbook, the comment and its metadata are kept forever. This way I can automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of having to moderate them.

Newsletter

For the newsletter, I store your data for as long as the newsletter is sent.

7. What rights you have over your data

You have the right to view, modify or delete your personal data. In addition, you have the right to withdraw your consent for data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by me and you have the right to data portability.

You can send a request for access, modification, deletion, data transfer, request for withdrawal of your consent or objection to the processing of your personal data to contact.

I will respond to your request as soon as possible, but within four weeks.

If you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data, you can let me know via contact. I would also like to point out that if you cannot reach an agreement with me, you have the option of filing a complaint with the national supervisory authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP).

Guestbook

If you have left a comment in the guestbook, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Newsletter

At the bottom of each newsletter is a link with which you can unsubscribe immediately. You will then no longer receive newsletters. When you unsubscribe, your data may not yet be definitively deleted. If you want this, you can request me to do so.

Each newsletter also contains a link with which you can change your data.

8. Automated decision-making

I do not use automated decision-making.

9. Security

I take the protection of your personal data seriously. My website is hosted by Hostnet.nl and uses a reliable SSL Certificate to ensure that your personal data does not fall into the wrong hands.
